The Club held it’s once-postponed Spring Golf Outing under glorious skies at Rock Spring Golf Club. A record 63 participants enjoyed a picture-perfect day of golf, lunch and prizes, won by the foursomes of Alex Comini and Craig Mohr. To top it off, we enjoyed the 19th hole at the grand reopening of the Rock, which just happened to begin as our rounds concluded.

Toucans Defeat Loons for Covid Bowling Title
In a fitting climax to the Club's Covid-truncated bowling season, the Toucans beat the Loons in two tightly contested games that were decided by a total of 15 points. We applaud all of the bowlers who came out to bowl every week under difficult circumstances, with no positive tests or ugly incidents. We are looking forward to the start of Summer Bowling on June 16th and a resumption of the full league in the fall.

COVID-19 Notice
The Commonwealth Club is fully open, with no additional capacity limitations, either indoors or outside on our porch or in our parking lot. We continue to follow current protocols and restrictions mandated by the State of New Jersey. Bowling is available. The board is staying on top of the situation and acting accordingly. Rentals of the Club are also available for events that fit the current guidelines. As vaccines continue to be widely distributed, we are expecting a full return back to some sort of normalcy. Those who are fully vaccinated are NOT required to wear a mask, while those who are not fully vaccinated should wear a mask.
We continue to act in full compliance with the CDC, local and state health authorities. We remain focused on preventing the spread of the virus and continue to act with an abundance of caution in our decisions pertaining to the health and safety of all who enter the club. The Club is being cleaned repeatedly from top to bottom during this time to further ensure the safety and well being of all who enter our doors.
Wishing you and your families health and safety and a swift end to this pandemic. Please go get your shot, stay safe, and be healthy!
Community Outreach News
Community Action
The Club has begun a new Community Action Initiative in an effort to get our members to be more actively involved in our communities. We have seen some remarkable results so far, as we held our second annual Halloween Costume Portraits for Charity, where member and professional photographer, Michael Stahl, took photos of kids in costumes. In exchange for a bag of groceries, or a coat, children in costume got to have their portrait taken and the proceeds went to Toni’s Kitchen, Human Needs Food Pantry and the Montclair Salvation Army. The response was so great that each charity received over twenty bags of groceries and over 100 coats were delivered to the Salvation Army. Recently, we had another coat drive that ended on New Year’s Day and resulted in the collection of close to two hundred badly needed coats to the Salvation Army. In addition to Toni’s and Human Needs, the Club also supports local organizations like Montclair Ambulance Unit, Laptop Upcycle, Montclair Salvation Army and the Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence.
Look for more opportunities to get involved as we roll out this program over the next couple of months.
Culinary Destination!
Culinary Destination!
Thanks to a growing number of talented kitchen jockeys, the Commonwealth Club is fast becoming known for our mouthwatering culinary-based events. From the Italian Sunday Dinner in January, we move to the Super Bowl Party in February, the always spicy Cajun Night in March/April, our own self-catered grilled steak extravaganza for the Annual Club Dinner in June, and in October, we hold our annual outdoor BBQ Fest. Bon Appetit!
